A friend recently aquired the most beautiful custom folder I have ever seen, and I have no idea the makers history or its value.I will post a pic here tomorrow, but in the mean time would appreciate any info anyone could provide on the following.

The blade is damascus with gold inlay throughout its entire surface on both sides. The blade has an arrowhead shaped logo engraved in it with the following inscription:

Larry Downing
Maker
Bremen
KY.

Obviously the blade is a custom by Larry Downing. However, I have no idea whom he is, or what his pieces are worth.

The handle scales are ivory with silver ends that are etched beautifully. It also has gold inlay trim around the etchings and a gold half ring pinned to the end of the frame, which looks to be for a pocket chain or neck chain.

My friend is wanting to sell the piece and asked me to help him find out what it is worth.

Thanks!

Here is some contact info for Larry Downing. It would be best to contact him and ask what this knife was originally worth.

He makes knives with a wide range of prices. What you described would probably be at the high end of his prices.

Thank you very much for the reply.

I have been in contact with Larry and feel honored to have even handled this piece.

Larry has advised its history and its original selling price.

The knife is on Larry's website and is the bottom pictured folder on his folder page.

I'd love to see the picture...
