This black beauty was made by Michael Andersson (Sweden) for his section
in my book "The Art of Custom Knifemaking" (2006).
Here is its description:
"Mimer", 2005
Named after the "Well of Knowledge" in the old Scandinavian mythology,
Mimer's blade is made in a San Mai technique using Swedish tool steel for
the cutting edge (15N20 and 20C), going through the whole blade, forged with a twist.
Slices of Web Mosaic made from mild steel and pure Nickel were then forged on both
sides of the cutting edge.
Handle is ancient walrus ivory, Overall length is 11 3/8" (290 mm).
All the best,
David Darom (ddd)
