How long is the handle on that one?

Contemplating picking this up. Seeing a lot of 12" FF's appear lately and I think there's a reason. I feel like it would make a killer hiking knife.

Don't contemplate too long. HI knives usually sell within 24 hours.

But this one has been listed for over a month, so the need to be impulsive is even less warranted here, it would seem.

It's a tossup between a Foxy Folly and the Pen Knife. I already have a 15" AK as a beastly chopper for around the home and garden, but I'm looking for a more compact khuk for wearing on my person when I amble around outdoors and beyond the home. My AK is 24 oz or so and is borderline what I would be comfortable carrying outside of a pack, and both the Pen Knife and the Foxy Folly only sacrifice only 2-3" of OAL but are half as heavy. I love the looks of both, so that isn't a concern. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I hear that the Pen Knife is better for all-around chopping and the Foxy Folly is way more of a slasher and fighter.

After this I'll be looking for a lean and mean machete-like Sirupati or Limbuwan type of khuk, but that's for another day...

Email sent on the Foxy Folly, and got the Done Deal. If you snooze, you lose. Anyway, I gave fair warning. About 2 hours worth.

Yangdu often has more than one of a particular blade, and a lot of the smaller Foxy Follys have been coming down the pike lately, so I suggest you shoot her an email and ask if she has another FF or a Pen Knife.

I agree that the Pen Knife is better for all-around use. The Foxy Follys generally have a thinner blade. Also, they're too beautiful for hard use. :)

Hah! Good snag, friend! I admit that with this handle, this would have been a display piece, and I have enough of those as it is. Glad it went to someone who will no doubt baby it.;)

Seconding how beautiful FF's are. I aspire to own one but for the time being I'm looking for something that can double as a user, and the most likely thing I'd personally use a 12" FF for would be as a CCW for vampire hunting. I dunno about you but I don't do that too much anymore.

Oh, and also as a tuning fork. I hear they make a really spiffy ringing sound when you flick 'em.

The newer ones don't do that, at least not for me, but I have a big Foxy Folly by the Royal Kami, Bura, that rings like a bell when I flick it.

Curious if you don't mind - what about the handle for you would result in it being a display piece? Concerns about durability or just one you wouldn't want to bang up since it's a real looker?

It's just gorgeous, no durability concerns. I had an 18" horn-handled BAS before that I thrashed around like a tantrumming toddler on the regular and it held up wonderfully.

Thanks! Haven't picked up a HI blade yet but seems they stand up well from what I read...appreciate the reply!

For the money and when it comes to knives, I can’t think of anywhere else that has more bang for your buck. There’s a reason HI is so addicting! It’s wonderful to have something that’s both marvelous in its craftsmanship, while still being useful everywhere from the garden to the backcountry to the home.

Great feedback, thanks!
