I have seen in the HI Khukuri site some really beautiful khukuris.
After all that ogling, I can't decide which ones are the most beautiful.

Some of those silver engravings done on the special khukuris are splendid, almost mouth-watering.

My first question: Which kami makes the most beautiful khukuris, this includes the sheath and decorations on the blade?

Second question: What particular type of khukuri is generally well known for its beauty in design and balance?

I thought maybe one day, I will have one of these beauties adorning my wall.

from what I've seen lately Sanu is doing som pretty good stuffas far as deep fullers and engraving. of course this is just based on pics of other members khuks.

..his bad days, and on his good days he is the equal of anyone. Still, I have KNN blades that are flawless, and the equal of some good Sanu products. ALL of the kamis are capable of great work, and with just a little leeway can throw in small tricks of their own. I posted a comment on my KNN WWII, which had a single chisel line, blackened, down the sword of shiva. When I polished off the protective coat I'd sprayed on the blade, I noticed that _inside_ the chisel line there was a series of raised dots, in pairs, down the length of the cut. When these were polished, they showed up like gems against the black background. This was a personal "add-on", showing great skill with a chisel in a place at can be irregular on some of the best blades.

Thanks for help. The Banspati is probably the most highly decorated khukuri that we offer -- engraved from tip to buttcap -- although many of us don't like the brass handle, me included. But if you're just going to look at it this would be the one I'd recommend.

Agreed it's pretty hard to decide, but the conceived potential use is the qualifier for the correct choice if it is to be a working khukuri.:)
Otherwise the choice depends on which one you think is the most beautiful or the one you believe would draw the most attention and consequently the most conversation hanging on your wall.

Golok the silver engraving is done by a Newari silversmith and usually not done by the kami himself.
Although I think that Bura and perhaps Sanu sometimes do a little of the silverwork, don't know about the other kamis.
But after all Bura is the Royal Kami of Nepal and perhaps still has skills he hasn't revealed to Himalayan Imports.;)

I have to agree with what's already been said. However Bura engraved the Banspatis IIRC.
And most of the sheaths are made by the Sarkis and not the kamis.

Depends solely upon the one doing the judging as everyone has their own favorites.
For me personally it's the YCS, Chitlangi and no doubt the new M-43 when I get to check one out.
But then I absolutely love the full curving design khukuris.:)
I love the Chitlangi for its lightness, beautiful fullers, Chainpur style handle and its quickness in the hand.
Absolutely enthralling to me!!!!:D

Golok the sooner you aquire the H.I.Khukuri that happens to be your personal favorite the longer you will be able to admire it whether for its beauty hanging on your wall or the beauty in its effectivness as a full fledged working tool.
The biggest problem is decideing on just which one you believe is the most beautiful.
No sense in waiting. Life is to short to not enjoy it when you are young enough to do so.:)

Order one today and let us know what you decided on!!!!!:D

Well said, Yvsa, but I have to add one more important, salient, point.

Back off, Golok, the Malla's spoken for!!! Shiiing! (sound of khukuri being pulled out of sheath) :D :D :D

Actually, it wouldn't make a sound like that, but, hey, it sounds good...

I like all of them, deciding which one is the hardest part. Once you buy enough, the decision is easier, because there aren't as many choices!

Thanks Yvsa for the great answer.

That's why I like posting here. The knowledgeable guys tend to take you for a short, interesting tour and then sort of throw in lunch as well.

What a great bunch! :D :D
