I presented this exquisite little 'box' kothimora a while back because of its artistry, ultra high quality and unique 'frog' system. I didn't own it then, but now I do so here are the new photos. I think this knife was made between 1890-1915. Sadly the karda and chakmak are gone but I hope to have reproductions made in the same style.

Howard,
While trying to classify the 4 or 5 types of presentation/kothimora types I named this style the 'box' because of the large squarish built up area at the throat to hold the karda and chakma. I can send along some pictures if this will help.

That's a really beautiful rig - especially the "flower" cho. It looks a little like the unnamed cho in the khukuri FAQ.

Here are some pix of what I define as the 'box'. The two knives these belong to are pictured at the right. The pix on the far left is from the knife in this thread. It has amazing workmanship, but not exactly the square shape. The other khukuri types that you may find this construction are the large 'janawar katnes', most all carved wood with no leather cover and scabbards made from horn.

Berk has kindly added the picture. The PhotoPoint gremlin and I are fighting...so see below

John, you've been having trouble with your links ever since PhotoPoint resurrected itself. Let's see if I have any better luck:
