Agreed it does look pretty but I prefer wood. Have a horn handled BDC and while it looks nice I much prefer the feel of a wood handle

if you work all day with a knife, cutting cane or something like that, i find a smooth horn handle can be softer on the hands.
but wood gives a stronger rougher grip, which can give you blisters if you are cutting all day long.

depends on what you need the knife for. strong grip for short time, or work all day with no blisters.

that being said, i still prefer wood, but i love my horn knives. Especially for processing food because the clean up is an easy a wipedown.
 
I would'a scooped that hanshe if I were not so broke. I do have a nice wood handle one thats a slight bit heavier.

That kid had skills though, and I always thought looked strikingly like an little elderly British actress who's works escape me at the moment.
 
I know I'm still new around here, but I can't wait to see Yangdu's next post. And the next one, and the next one...
