I love the Cho on that think, great lines. I want it bad, I've been trying to behave myself but this is sorely tempting, singing loudly to me. Maybe I need help.

Grats Eric,
A beast and a half for sure. Better use it in both hands or your gonna have lopsided arms form the weight lifting lol.

Thanks fellers. I had a hard time believing it when I got the DD. I am looking forward to seeing it in person. You are right nDog, such a cool buttcap and Cho. I keep coming back to this post to stare at the pictures in anticipation. I wonder what he had in mind with the Cho. Kinda looks like a face. The negative space sort of looks like hands to heaven, or maybe moose antlers. They probably don't have moose over there. Pugs, you are correct. I will probably need both hands. I have 2 trees that need to come down. I will have to give the beast a test run.

What do you all think the closest model would be to this? It has a curved spine and 2 fullers. I'm already naming it "The Beast" but would you call it a dui chirra?

Hope you don't mind me chiming in-reminds me of a big YCS or Foxy Folly.

It looks most like a Foxy Folly, but the FF is a relatively lightweight model, whereas this is really a beast at 51 oz (twice the weight of most FFs). It has two full length fullers, but I don't think of "dui chirra" as a distinct model -- more a catch-all name for blades that have two fullers but don't match one of the standard models. Analogous to a Reti Knife, which is really a Kumar Kobra made from a file. The combination of size, weight, fullers and that unusual cho make this a one-of-a-kind blade, so calling it "The Beast" seems just about right.

I gave serious thought to going for this one, but I get frustrated with blades that are too heavy (for me) to swing. If this had a longer, straighter handle allowing a two-handed grip I would have jumped on it early. Of course that would be a different kind of Beast.

I don't mind at all. Thanks for your input!

Thanks! I thought it was one of a kind too. I was really drawn to it. I thought about it being way too big to be used much but I still just had to have it anyway. I know Ram Kumar is able to somehow make knives feel lighter than they really are. I am wishfully hopefull that it will be the case with this one too;)

I received the BEAST! It is big. If does feel lighter than I thought but still pretty heavy. It cuts dry hard wood like it is soft wood. You don't have to swing hard or fast. Just flick the wrist and the weight does the work. That being said, I could only use it for about 10 minutes until I needed to stop because my grip was giving out. My hand muscles are still a bit sore. You cannot tell in the pictures but there are some really good looking light spots and light colored streaks on the handle. I filled the crack in the handle but left it looking like a battle wound scar because I think it looks cool. I love this beast. Here are a couple more pictures of her.

The crack is all sealed up.

Another picture of the beast in hand.

I love it! Such a BEAST!!!

I hope someone buys that Katunje, if it hasn't been sold already. Those are great for a camping/backpacking knife for a young or smaller person. My nephew loves going out in the woods and using his Katunje to build little shelters.
