Bought myself a BK 11 just before Christmas and received a BK 2 from my loving wife Christmas morning. So now I have two new knives to play with. Purchased some Stripease to take off the coating and began to modify the 11 tonight. Making the front finger groove rounder to fit my finger better. Haven't decided on what I will use to make scales for these two, I am leaning toward burlap micarta. More to follow.

Congrats on the toys, and great intro, JW!
Welcome to the sub-forum.

Two knives in and already the Dremel is out.....sweet! You're no noob, that's fo sho. Looks like you've been around BF for a while....glad you finally found your way to our little corner of the mayhem.

Looking good  Welcome!

Pull up a chair to the fire and crack a beer!

Starting off right, nice!
Welcome! Glad you're starting with pics to, thanks!

Finally got most of the coating off the knives with a lot of elbow grease and a single edge razor. The razor worked much better than the scraper I intended to use. Then used the Dremel with a sanding drum to clean up the flat edges which were fairly rough. Next put the Cratex point to work getting the remaining tough coating to go away then sanded so far with 320 and 600 sandpaper. No one said this was not a messy job but not one that you can't do indoors. Working on this project in our craft/gun room.

Still need to decide on what scales to put on them.

Yea i got myself a 5 for my first full size bk. Buddy bought a 11 and 16 a few weeks ago and i had to go a head and dive in too. Been craving a becker for a year or so and after handling his it was all over.

Quick!!! Reply to anything!! Your at 666 posts..... Lol. Congrats on the new toys. I have everything from Busse to Randall made and honestly these Beckers are just as good and in some cases even better. I love Becker knives. They are working knives for sure. And sounds like a great wife! She gave you a BK-2 for Xmas.

Thanks Cut It Out, for the heads up on the post count. Phew

I find the BK 2 grip as comfortable as anything I have ever felt. I wouldn't change them it this wasn't a project knife because I like to tinker with things. I am not very active at 63 and have little need for another fixed blade other than Becker is so attractive at the price point for what it is. How many people buy Busses and never use them because they are so expensive. Not a problem with the Becker, great steel at an affordable price in enough styles to please everyone's needs.

I intend to do more sanding on the blades as time goes on and after I decide whether on not to make scales out of some natural wood or some composite.

I bought some Kirinite and some mosaic pins from Jantz supply. Got the scales drilled and epoxied in place yesterday. Spent today roughing them in and now I have to begin the finishing process by sanding them with progressively finer wet/dry paper. I thought I ordered nickel silver mosaic pins but I received brass which worked out okay since I had a piece of brass tubing that fit the lanyard hole in the BK 2. I still have some other ideas in my mind but this is where I am now. By the way, I wanted to keep the scales thin so the two knives aren't too bulky.

so the two knives aren't too bulky.

One of those two knives is a BK2... That would be like saying that you want to install carbon fiber seats to keep your Tank light weight...

Don't go too thin or you will get a steep angle where the scales meet the spine, creating hot spots and blisters.

Nice mods, I like how the kirinite is shaping up.
How is the depth on it? How does it look when looking into them?
