Beck/WSK/Tracker style knife question

I've been asked to bid on a custom job where the client wants a knife pretty similar to these, but with a few tweaks of his own. It's my understanding that the originator of this design left it open to other makers to interpret and build. Is that so? Just curious, don't want to step on any toes.

The knife is not really my style but it looks like a lot of fun to grind. Thanks for your time

I think he left it open, atleast I've heard that before, but don't know for sure.
