Wow - made this bamboo cup and utensils a few gatherings ago on Becker Mountain. Since then it's just sat on my desk at home and yesterday it split from top to bottom without anyone even touching it. Major Bad. :grumpy:

We heat our home primarily with wood and as many of you know it is a very dry heat. Too bad because we sure don't have any bamboo around here!

It was probably pissed that you weren't using it.

If you watch sherlock on the BBC, you might remember the episode with the tea pots. Those had to be used, otherwise the clay would grow too moist, and split. I would venture to say, the bamboo cups might be the same way. That's actually kind of a cool thought to me, in a way, although my condolences for the loss. Means you made something meant to be used.

sorry to hear Col. I don't have any bamboo or else i would send a you a couple pieces to play with. Do you still have that San mai 11? I broke and got another...

Yes tman038 the San Mai is still safe and sound here in Missouri. Thanks for asking. As far as the bamboo goes I guess I will just have to make another trip to Becker Mountain - will try in 2014. Merry Christmas to all!
