After looking around for a looong time for an open carry fixed blade I decided on the BK 11, mostly based on the reviews and thoughts expressed on this forum. And, after having received it (bought on amazon), I can honestly say it is without a doubt the sharpest blade out of the box that I have had the experience to have. I have a case xx folder and an old buck folder from my dad, but after experiencing the hazards of a folder and fingers getting in the way, I decided it was time for a fixed blade. I'm a woodworker and have always modded any handles I had, such as hammers, and marking knives and figured no big deal with having to make scales for the new BK 11. But in the mean time I figured I would leather wrap the skeleton handle. YEAH RIGHT. Cut my left index finger a little bit, when pulling leather tight, and not having learned that lesson sufficiently, pulled a littler tighter and blade pulled out of sheath and got right thumb, with 8 stitches worth of cut. Didn't even feel it do damage till my dogs cam sniffing and I looked down at the floor. This knife came UNBELIEVABLY sharp out of the box LMAO. I will have this knife around for a loooooong time to come. Blood spilt already, can't let it go. This forum rocks youse guys.

Come on in the house and get those wounds cleaned up. You'll need something to type with if you're gonna hang around here.

i like my bk 11 the grips i got for it make it a whole differnt knife i think.

I'm looking forward to mine too, I got some micarta scales for it so hopefully I don't chop any fingers off when I put them on.

8 stitches ? How long was the wound?

Hey Ropie......

Glad you stopped by the neighborhood.......BTW.....Thanks for buying one of my knives.......Sorry about the stitches......Hope that the cut was on the weak hand at least.......Wood work is awkward as hell with a dinged digit !!!!!..... I am happy to note you have retained your sense of humor.....LOL...... If you managed that, stick around and join in.....

Where I come from, a knife isn't really yours until it tastes your blood. Some go so far as to say that if the knife doesn't like your blood it'll never cut you again and after biting you the knife will hold a better edge, be easier to resharpen, and be more resistant to corrosion.
I think what I'm trying to say is welcome to the club. :D

I feel the same way, I'm gonna have this little knife for years. Just put the scales on the other day,
and can finally hold it in my hand and feel fully satisfied with my purchase. My 11 is my "never-going-
back-to-folders" knife. Gotta have something I can EDC that will take hard use and not wimp out.

Are you thinking about stripping it?

I love me some BK11
I liked it cord wrapped, but I love it with micarta.
Welcome to the forum Ropie!
