Hey all,

Long time lurker, just back into knives after a year hiatus and it feels great. I love me some beckers. Anyway just had a question for anyone that owns both a bk 15 and 17. I was wondering if the 15 is thinner behind the edge than the 17 and is a better slicer/carver? I own a bk 17 and love both its ascetics and ruggedness, but feel like its saber grind sometimes hinders its cutting performance. Any opinions ability of a 15 to slice compared to a 17? Thanks for the input.

welcome, jst.

I think there's some terminology confusion.
The 17 has the 'saber' grind. The 15 has a full flat grind with a swedge. The 15 has a slimmer blade because the angle of the primary bevels is more acute. The 17 is quite a bit more stout for that reason.

Shoot, not a terminology confusion, I mixed up the 15 and 17 in my original post. Just fixed it. Anyway thanks for your comment and time.

The 15 is a great slicer, mine gets used everyday in the kitchen.

Better grab one before they're out of stock!

Same a stated above, my 15 is stored in the kitchen and sees daily use and what a tremendous value right now with the prices so low.
You can't go wrong with a 15 :)

If you have a 15 thinned down, it gets insanely sharp. This puppy has demanded a blood sacrifice twice. :)
