Thank you for the insightful reviews on the BK-17. Ordered today, I look forward to using it as a camp knife and will perform a solid field test in December in Southern AZ.

After hefting a BK-16 at Willey Knives in Delaware recently, I was impressed by the balance, ergonomic scales and overall quality for a well priced fixed blade. With the loyal following and range of blade styles, it is clear that this is a company that understands the lifetime value of the customer.

All the Best,
Phil

And the waiting begins!....
I hate waiting on a new knife. Haha
The 17 is a great knife. I'm sure you'll love it.
Congrats, and welcome to the forum!
Make sure you snap some pics and share them here when your knife arrives.

good man. it will serve you well.

Grats, I have yet to try the 17 but have heard good feedback on it so far. After waiting for the 16 to arrive, it finally came in today at the shop together with 4, 7, 9, 11, 14 and 24. Already have the 9 and 14, I'm kinda itching to get the 7 and 11 together.

My first tweener, love it. Got another at Ethan's gathering last spring, so the original is now somewhere in the sandbox keeping company with my cousin.

I've heard rumors floating around here that the BK17 is going out of production. Is there any truth to that?

A lot of people have posted, said, etc. that they thought 17 would be stopped before any of the others. I believe that's where the rumor has originated. Thus far, the only models being stopped are the 15 & the 5. Tragic, really.

The 15 seem like a great choice for field kitchen knife, but I would prefer a 17 more, prep that the 17 will come soon

Hey PRPark....

Thanks for your business and welcome..... I think you will enjoy using your new 17 and I hope it works hard for you........

BTW..... The 17 is NOT slated for discontinuance........ E

Thank you all for your warm welcome and particularly from Mr. Becker.

I used a CMI figure 8 when I taught rock climbing and look forward to using the BK-17 to instruct my children in bushcraft technique. The figure 8 never let me down, and I do not expect the BK-17 will either.

Happy Thanksgiving and Good Carving!

As a Becker neophyte, I was incorrect (throughout the thread) as I referred to a BK-17, while it was a BK-15 that was the object of my affection.

The tracking texts told me it would arrive today, but in checking with the head admin at work, it did not arrive....Until, she called me as I passed Ft Meade and I turned around in the slop that was today's weather. Back at the car, and tearing open the box, I was pleased to see the solid rectangular box.

I have had many tactical and bushcraft fixed blades (was set up at the SHOT show next to Ek Knives in the late 80's and bought most of their "show" knives), but was amazed at the scales and how the palm swells hit my hand. Balance was very good and liked the size of the blade...Will do well in the field, but grilling up fresh goose breasts tomorrow morning, so I think I have my new (goose ) steak knife!!

Thank you for the warm welcome.

Welcome, PRPark ........

Hope you have a great time with your new Fifteen....... It is an incredibly useful blade..... I feel comfortable saying that as it was designed by the incomparable Jerry Fisk...... Supposed to be a decent filet knife...... The five has a pretty good rep for deconstructing big fish...... Have fun and thanks for your business........

Ethan
