I have a RD-7 from Ontario knives, it is one of the first, were the blade tapers to the point. I was a little disappointed with the knife, the sheath just sucks. I have a BK2 and it feels great in hand, very pleased with it. People who have both BK 7,9, RD-7,9 or had both please give some feed back.

Well... I have a pre-Ontario RD9 and a Shiv. I love both of them. Not the prettiest knives, but they're workhorses. The micarta handle on the RD9 was a little too square for me so I rounded it off. The RD9 sheath is nice, but the strap to hold the knife in I feel is set too high. The Shiv has a Normark(Eric) sheath. Eric's sheaths are awesome, but I think he's not doing them anymore. What don't you like about them?

I've also had a couple of the RAT7 from Ontario, both were 1095 & one was a PE & one was a CE & I had a couple of the Ontario RAT3's (1-1095 & 1-D2) & I hade a TAK1 . I have also had a BK7,BK2,BK10,BK9,BK13,BK11 but after swapping around I kept the ones that seen the most use my BK9/13 & the BK11. I like the BK knives a little better than the Ontario RAT's. Nothing wrong with the RAT knives , they are good knives. This was just my Personal choice. I like the handle design of the Beckers alot better, they feel better in my hand than the Ontario RAT. Try the BK's you will love'em

Ooops...I missread your question...you said RD not RAT ! Sorry, ignore my post !

I did not care for the handle so much and I did get a couple small chips in the blade cutting pompous grass, I think that is what it is called. I could understand if I hit the ground but don't believe I did. The chips came out easy, but I guess I never really warmed up to it.

Be careful with big Ontario's. A lot of people can say you these blades can be broken easily.

Original sheath from BK7 or BK9 sucks too :( Currently it is better than was offered by Camillus, yet it is still poor.
