Becker bk-9 master series???

Hi, I am thinking about getting a bk-9 and am wondering if the coating and logo are the only differences from the non-master series ones? and also does the coating affect how well it cuts?

That's not the difference of the 'master Series' at all.. the old coating/stamping is still Master Series... that's just the designation for KABARS collaboration knives.

But yes, laser etching vs stamping and the new coating are the only difference. Etching vs stamping makes for a stronger blade. The stamping is done with such force that it can occaisionally cause stress fractures. The coatins is fine and will wear in/smooth out with use... You would do well to strip it anyways... the knives feel and perform better when they're naked (don't we all?)

If you want the new style, probably have to order from Tomars Kabars. If you order from Amazon, you'll likely get the old style.

But yeah, maybe confirm with Tomars if thats for sure the one you want. I know some of the others around here have gotten theirs from him.
