Can anyone post a pic comparing a bk-9 and son of dogfather together? and if possible a busse basic 7 too? I really like the shape and handle of my BK-9 my only complaint is I wish it had better steel and I am worried the SOD will be too short and stubby for my wants.

Better steel? What is lacking in the steel now besides your opinion of it? 1095 Cro Van has a good reputation for large knives, one benefit of the material is toughness. Knives like the BK-9 are at the top of the cost vs performance chart. Be happy with your fine blade, the SOD is a good bit smaller in the blade 7.5" vs 9".

Now if you could get a Basic 9 for $70.....one can dream.

For the money ... I don't know if you can do a whole lot better than the Becker.

... but I know full well the difference between need and want.

I thought about getting a bk9 at one time. That is until I saw the destruction test. Sure we don't plan to beat it on a cinder block. However I believe that a woods knife should not under any circumstances snap in half in a relatively short period of time (no matter what you're chopping.) Maybe it's just me but I prefer a softer steel that will bend and dent to a brittle steel that will chip out and snap. The first time my brother took his bk9 out to camp. It broke in half on the first piece of wood he batoned. I'll take the SOD over a becker any day.

I have some ScrapYards. The Dogfather is going for around $250 unused.

That is almost four Beckers. Beckers have a pretty good warranty and most folks wont break one.

Just saying ... a Becker is a pretty good value.

I sold my 2 SOD 'cause they were bad choppers compared to my Dogfathers and my BK-9...regarding steel, well I beat the crap out of my BK-9 in a wilderness fashion though and never had an issue with it. Oh and btw the I did broke one of my Dogfathers chopping wood last year...:) ironic heuh!!!!
