I had one from the Camillus shop and loved the snot out of it then traded it like a dummy.

Sadly.
It's definitely a must have for any Becker collection.

It's on my list that's for sure. Wanna make a deal Bladite? ;)

Looks like an awesome knife. Too bad on the discontinuation Anyone know the blade thickness?

Its a good knife, but kinda obselete in the Becker line up now. I used one of E's at Half Moon Ridge, and remembered why I got rid of it. To each their own, but I am glad Kabar is not spending the resources to resurrect it. I would much rather have newer and better designed products hitting the market, rather than outdated designs. Take it for what its worth, that my $.02. The BK9 beat the hell out of it as a chopper, the BK2 is much better at fine work, even the 7 gives you chopping and fine work, as good or better than the Brute, in a lighter package. Just sayin'.

I must be the odd man out. I have BK 2s 3s 7s & 9s no 5 yet But when I need chopping and batoning, It's the BK-1 that I reach for. I also like the fact that you can pull on the thick spine and the handle to use the belly of the knife as a draw shave.

I agree it suffers on some of the finer tasks. But when the Brute goes, I usually pair it with my Koster Bushcrafter.

To each his own I guess. I'm just glad I got mine when I did. And I would not hesitate to scoop up another one.

Brutus with his siblings,

Although I must agree with Bladite, the BK-9 is growing on me.

Yeah, I didn't have any of the issues mentioned above and neglected to read the FAQ...

Is it going to be redesigned, the BK9 while ok as a chopper really isn't in league with others of the BK1's ilk ie the Busse B11 or Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri. My old Brute could keep up with those for way less money.

The BK9 isn't close to the Brute for pure chopping, bush busting and big camp knife duty.
