Becker bk11 custom scales

I have recently acquired a bk11 (Ethans NOV fire contest) and have been wanting some scales but the factory micarta is $36 bucks with shipping from tomars! Then I turned to Tommythewho, he seemed reasonable but I decided to try making my own, here's the result

They overlap just a bit on the top and bottom, but other then that they work great! I sealed them with 3 coats of gloss lacquer so blood and other crap wont crack them.

Soft Maple.

Looks great.
Does look a bit like bone, or antler.
Look good with the brass screws too.
I made my first set of scales for my 11 from an old cutting board.
They worked great till the knife got run over by a car, or two when I lost it in a parking lot.
There's othing like making you own custom scales so they are perfectly taylored to your own hand.
