Hi!

I'am looking for a knife to go with my bk9 and i like the looks of the bk16 but i already have a mora witch works grate. The bk16 is a good deal more expensive than the mora. I woes gong to be making feather sticks, cleaning game, carving, and edc.

Thanks in advance for your info

i have a BK9 and a Mora 2000 lashed to my pack and im pretty content with that combo.

If you already have the Mora and it works great then the only reason to get another knife is because you want to. Don't get me wrong, I love my BK16s, but if you already have a knife for that task you don't really need to go duplicating that unless you really want to own a BK16. That being said, the BK16(/17) is a fantastic knife that is super comfortable and durable, holds a great edge, and works really well for that size of Knife. Ethan said it was the knife he has been trying to make his entire career, and when you get it in hand you really can see why.

I love my 16 also, the ergonomics, size, and sheer useful utility of this knife make it a sweet heart. On the other hand you could pick up a Mora stainless Companion and a heavy duty, both, for about half the cost of a 16. I have them all, I like them all. It's your call.

So you went with the BK-9 from your other thread. Hope you like it.

The Kabar Becker BK-16 is a great knife. I bought one a couple months ago mostly because they are popular. I bought a BK-2 for the same reasons. I just got a Condor Kephart ($30) yesterday and like the feel of it for a everyday field knife where you don't need some big knife like the BK-9. I see similar uses for the BK-16 and it, but the BK-16 has a slightly thicker bar steel and I would suspect a little tougher and a drop point style if you like that. I like the leather sheath of the Condor Kephart and I would consider carrying the BK-16 in it as well (it fits nicely) as I tend to be biased toward simple leather belt sheaths. Both are very easy to sharpen. I would get the BK-16 but consider the Condor Kephart for your needs (cost vs need).

Like Derek said, if you got a Mora and it suits your needs, it sounds like you're set. But if you want to try a BK16, I agree, it's a great knife and nice choice at that price point.

If you get the BK-16, I suspect IT WILL be the knife you carry all the time in the woods. It is really a nice blade and the nylon sheath has a pouch that you can slip something like a SAK inside. Mora's never really appealed to me. I own one Mora (Scout Classic #40) and was not pleased with the QA/QC, but it was cheap and sharp. I experiment with a lot of knives and I would carry the BK-16 any day of the week over the Mora.

I sense a budding knife addict here! :D Hey, what part of KY are you? I lived and spent a lot of time in Eastern KY. I love those mountains but sometimes the curvy roads get to ya when you're trying to make time.

I just want more knives!!:D

Then buy the BK16! That is all the justification that you need. ;)

BTW, I have several Mora's and love 'em - especially the Mora Bushcraft. If that was the only knife I had, it could do almost everything that I needed (it is slightly larger and heavier than your 2000) but where is the fun in that? Enjoy your Mora, enjoy your BK9, and buy more knives like the BK16 that you're lusting after.
