Would putting a little 3 in 1 oil on the blade about once a week be a good idea to keen it from rusting. Is not. What kind of oil would you recamend. Thanks.
 
3 in 1 should work fine, but if you plan to use it for any food prep, i'd recommend wiping it down with mineral oil.
 
Mineral oil works great like Aikiguy said. In a pinch I will use olive oil as well, tastes better than 3 in 1.
