Hello all, this is my first post as a member, however I have been a long time "lurker". I just received my first batch of quality knives from Ka-Bar, CRKT, and Cold Steel. I bought a Ka-Bar BK17 (FIRST BECKER!:) ), CRKT Minimalist Wharnecliffe, and a CS Micro Recon 1 Tanto. However, after my order was placed, I discovered the CS SRK (Survival Rescue Knife). So I immediately began questioning my decision to buy the BK17, and considered sending it back for the SRK. What do you guys think? I know you guys can help me. Also, are there any REAL disadvantages of having a clip-point camp knife?

Don't question your decision to buy a Becker. The BK17 is a great knife and IMHO, better than the newer SRKs. It can withstand the use (read: Abuse in the eyes on CS) that the SRK wouldn't be able to. Now, I am not saying the SRK is a bad knife. It is an excellent knife, but the BK17 is better and slightly cheaper. The only real disadvantage I could see with the BK17 is the clip point will eat your baton while batoning, other than that it is a GREAT camp knife.

Do a youtube search for Cold Steel SRK Fail and then Becker BK17 Fail. Compare how many results you get of each.

EDIT: One advantage the SRK has is that it is a stainless steel knife. AUS8 is a great steel for the price.

Alright thank you, I appreciate it. I think your comment, and just having it so far has solidified its position in my collection.

One of each always sounds good to me. That tends to be what I end up doing (eventually).
