Time to do my first sharpening of this Becker BK2. It mostly is used for camp chopping duty and a small amount of batoning. My main sharpening tool is the Work Sharp Guided sharpener which looks like a model they don't sell anymore and is smaller than the current Benchstone model they now sell. Is this a suitable sharpener for such a big blade? It felt awkward trying to use the Work Sharp.

Similar question for my big Kershaw Camp 1077 - seems too big for the Work Sharp. But I am a poor sharpener and don't have much experience sharpening big blades.

I don’t have the work sharp but I do have the Wicked Edge guided sharpening system. I have sharpened lots of knives that were too big, like machetes, BK 9, BK2, and a Junglas. I sharpened in sections vs trying to do the entire length of the blade. And as far as the thickness goes, I reprofiled a BK2 down to 15° per side and it took a long while. I don’t know if that’s helpful information or not. Good luck!

Depends on your technique. It would work well with short scrubbing motions. For crescent type techniques it would require more drawing along the edge bevel and slower forward/backward progress compared to using a bigger longer stone but it could be done.
