I have decided to purchase the Becker Bk2 and become part of the Becker community. However, as I was searching for a place to purchase it I came across a place called Blade Shop on Amazon. The question I have is, It doesn't state whether or not it's a first generation or second. Do they even sell first generation anymore? Any help would be great!

Btw, I am not sure if this is in the right section, if not please understand I am new to this forum. Thanks

I ordered one from amazon directly. It didn't specify gen1 or 2 , but it ended up being a generation 2. I decided to take the risk b/c of how cheap it was.

Yeah, I have a feeling its a generation 2 but the main picture is the first generation. However, that picture is standard for all of the sellers so there's no way to depict which one it is. I may just end up going for it because I will be saving around $10 compared to Tomars-Kabars.

If you roll over the customer images attached on the amazon page, there's notes. My bet is that it's a Gen2.

Yeah exactly, although it doesnt state which one it is, it makes you think it's a Gen2 due to all of the pictures that customers have posted. Thanks man.

Yeah, when i bought mine it had a gen1 picture.
How important is the generation to you? if its not that important go for it and save 10 bucks.

Yeah, I will probably go for it. The generation doesn't mean too much due to the fact both of the knives are remarkable. I just like the sheath better on the GEN2 as well as the pommel.

Gen 1' are just about gone, lads. Kabar doesn't make Gen 1's as a regular production item, and the chances of finding a dealer that has sat on BKT stock for 2yrs, is pretty slim.

If you buy a new BK2, its gonna be a Gen2, I haven't heard of anyone getting a Gen1 on a blind buy in quite a while.

With that said, congrats on the marvelous purchase of BKT BK2. It will be your new Bestus knife friend, promise ya that.

Post of some pics of that black beauty, and welcome to the fold, the forum and as soon as you get the qual, the Beckerheads. If that's what you wish.

The BK2 is a beefy l'il bugger. I still can't believe something that small can be that heavy.

I don't find it to be all that heavy, though it does weigh out, its really well balance for the weight. TOOOOOOOOOOOJJJ!!!!!!!

Yeah it is a little bit on the heavier side but theres a definite compensation on the way it cuts and batons. I handled one today at my local sporting goods store and although they are a decent weight they arent that bad if you want it to live through an apocalypse. :p

I too thought it was heavy straight out of the box, but after a couple of days it feels juuuuuuuust right.

I'm not saying the weight is a bad thing, it weighs in proportion to its badassness.

I totally agree. When I first got mine, I thought it would be cumbersome to carry due to the weight. Didn't take long though, until I could hardly notice it on my belt. Lately, I've been carrying on my pack, so I really don't know it's there.

i would never ordre from amazon until i do :)
