Hey guys,

A couple of days ago I was checking out thE bay and came across an auction for 2 BK6 knife blanks. Well, needless to say, I caved. Damn you, "buy it now" button!! Anyway, the description says "2 rare Becker BK&T BK6 Patrol Machete knife blanks. One is ground with Camillus stamping (has a small chip in the blade edge which is unfinished probably a factory reject) the other is BK&T looks like pre Camillus and is a raw blank unground."

I wasn't aware that there was a pre Camillus BK6. Can someone (Ethan, Moose, Bladite, Guyon) or anyone else confirm this? They will need work and I will have to find someone willing to work on them but i still am pretty excited to find these. I only plan on keeping one of the 2 in the long run. I don't have them yet but here are the pics. thanks for looking. Oh yeah I hope these are not any of the fakes that have been going around. They look pretty legit to me.
What do you guys think? thanks for looking.

They are both Camillus era. One is a pre production run blank, the other made it to the floor.

There were two companies making BKT before Camillus, Cincinnati Machine and tool, the other, Blackjack/Effingham.

From what I can recall, the only models being made during the Effingham era, was the Campanion, Magnum Camp, Machax, Tactul/Divtul, and Brute. The Bk6, 7, 8?,9,10,and 11 all came during Camillus's era. The 12 was close, but no cigar.

Starting with Kabar, the newest designs, were the 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and soon to be 18, I hope.

Hope this helps, grind the hell outta them critters, should be an interesting process.

thanks for the comments and info, guys. Those of you who have a BK6 would you mind posting some pics?

Looks like a fun project. Is that unground blank hardened or annealed? Hardened metal takes forever to work... Converting the BK2 to FFG took nearly as long as cutting out a new BK2 shape and grinding it to FFG would have taken.

I had one of those blanks a while back. It was going to cost me more to get it finished out then I paid for it (which was $200) so I passed it on to another beckerhead. I never did hear what happened with it.

one of those looks defective (the one without the chip), send to me for inspection and disposal :)
