this is my first post on this forum so first i would like to say hello to everyone. now to why the bk7 is the best knife i have owned. ihave had it for about 3 months now. the day i bought the knife i used it to clean 5 good sized channel cats... easiest time i have ever had cleaning fish. day 2 bought 15# bottom round sliced into steaks all good cleanly sliced andtrimmed steaks.day 3 went fishing again used knife to chop down inch and a half branches 4 of them when it started raining to make stakes for a tarp.finnaly decided to sharpen used whet stone to bring past factory sharpness took maybe 10mins.day 5 more fish. next used caught ugly alligator gar wanted hook back 1 chop headless gar then 1 snapping turtle again wanted hook back i will admit i had a hard time with the turtle but the job was done. i most always put the knife up wet for days at a time being a high carbon steel the edge will have a small amount of surface rust...severals swipes of the whet stone and rust is gone this is my first blade that is coated. ive never liked coated blades as they wear badly the bk7 coating seems to only smooth out some i have treated this knife like a knife so i have not tried to pry open doors or chop down trees but i have been hard on it in conclusion i am goin to buy several more

They are great knives. We had them in our response kits, with the micarta scales from the Extreme, they handle even better IMHO. I bought a bunch of the micarta scale sets, thinking I was going to buy more BK7's and BK2's. Didn't move fast enough. My distributer just sent me their last BK2. To bad about Camillus, let's hope that Ethan can go somewhere like Kabar with the designs.

A great knife that can perform many a task well! You've discovered this nicely. Do get micarta grips for the beast some how. The knife will fell much better in hand.

there is a knife shop by where i live that has 6 of them they are a little expensive there but as yall have already said they are getting hard to find at 79.99 a piece i still dont mind paying it

I also have a Bk7, where do you think we can get the micarta acales for it? Any thoughts, maybe ebay?

yep Camillus is no longer in business…to bad. I hope the Becker line will be continued by a other trusted (US) knife company that can make the same quality blade for a good price.

The BK7 is a fine knife. A good design for chopping, slicing and woodwork in a sturdy, light-weight and good prices package. The handle is its big plus. Is have big hands and the round backside work very good for me. It can easily be made more ergonomic with sandpaper. I also used a metal-cutting-saw to make a grippy profile in the handle. I love mine!

Thanks, I did not want to spend alot on new scales, the micarta ones, now at least I have a few more ideas to make the handle less slippery, it feels good, just too smooth. I had also heard that one can inch a short section of bike inner tube over the handle for added grip. Take care, and thanks for the info that, maybe, Ontario picked up the Becker line. We will see in the near future.
