Had a couple of these and just sold one with the intention of keeping the other one for myself. How does the handle material hold up in actual field use. I took the handles off of mine thinking I might use my Dremel to do a little shaping but found them to be hollow, though with a construction method that would make them strong enough to handle chopping. Maybe I just answered my own question! But being the knife tinkerer I am I had to do something about those hollow handles. I used some JB Weld and filled the spaces up to help add strength and a little bit more handle weight. Seems to have worked out well as it balanced it a bit more and it really feels good in the hand. But my main question concerns the handle material itself and if it can or can not be shaped using sandpaper and a Dremel. Anyone ever try this and what were the results? Or does anyone aftermarket a set of micarta grips for the different models? Just curious as a tinkerer! :D :D :D

People have reduced them, but by taking them off and sanding the inside flats. I don't know how thick they are, if you would break into the open/JB Weld areas. I packed mine with about 6 tinder quicks for fire starting.

I had emailed Camillus a couple of weeks ago about them having micarta handles available for the Becker line. This morning, a woman named Wendy called and said they had them available for $20.00.  I plan on ordering some on Monday and will ask again, "these are micarta, right?" :D

If you check their site, they sell a model with micarta grips already on them...
