Picking up a BK7 next month since everyone seems to rave about them. But people seem to dislike the sheaths.

So I'm looking for a replacement sheath for it. I've thought about a custom kydex from one of the dealers on BF.com. But all the kydex sheaths I've tried have been noisy and I like a quieter draw. Are there any nylon/plastic or leather insert sheaths out there for purchase that will hold a BK7?

Or is the blade so wide it's custom kydex or nothing? And could I simply be used to garbage sheaths and the custom kydex are much more quiet than I think they will be?

Appriciate the help everyone.:D

the nylon sheath they send is o.k just sometimes the blade might rattle.cuz the peice of kydex is too big for the blade .so take it out and heat it so it's soft then mold it tight on your knife. I did that plus I used strips of felt to line the inside of the peice of kydex so it's smooth and quiet. then glued it back in.

Who do I contact to order a set of these micarta scales people seem to like so much? A phone # or an email would be great.

Phone # to Camillus is 315-672-8111. Micarta scales are $ 20.00, and
$ 11.49 for shipping. I asked the rep how they were shipped. She said that they had to use UPS because the "scales were in a box" whatever that means. Anyhow, I ordered a set for my crewman. Hope this helps. Bill

Thank you everyone.

If the extent of the modifications are some sheath fixes and new scales I think I might become rather fond of this bit of kit.:D

Might want to use it for a while before you make up your mind. IMO Ethan Becker puts a lot of thought into his designs.

I agree. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one in the world who actually LIKES the handles and sheath of the BK7. I use the hell out of mine and I still have no intentions of changing either. So, use it for a while and then decide for your self.

I love my Kabar BK-7. I installed Micarta grips I got from "Tomar's Kabars" and got a kydex sheath from "On Scene Tactical". I installed a "Tek-Lok" from Blade-Tech on the sheath. The Tek-Lok allows me to quickly attach/detach the knife from my belt. I carry the knife in a cross-draw, hi-ride position. With this manner of carry, the knife is comfortable, unobtrusive, and easy to draw....The BK-7 is an awsome knife !!!

lol... Yep, it's still an awesome knife 4 years after the original post, too. Nice bit of thread necromancy there. :D

btw, I don't think calling Camillus is gonna get you micarta handles anytime soon. ;)
