Becker BK7 Replacement?

I was longing to buy a Becker BK7 for a long time - then Camillus went out of business. Well, now that I have the money, the knife is gone.

What would be an 'equivalent' replacement for this knife? Something in a similar price point and performance?

Thanks.

for similar type of knife and performance check out the Ontario RAT-7 and Ranger RD6 or RD7...price is only a lil higher

What about a Ka-Bar U.S.M.C Fighting Knife? It's a good knife and it's in your price range. Good luck.

the Kabar 1276 SHORT Heavy Bowie has the same shape and size as the BK7 and is also good. The steel is softer then the BK7, Ranger RD or Ontario RAT so it needs to be sharpened only a bit more. I just ordered a Kabar 1277 LARGE Heavy bowie. As a chopper the steel is great, check out the reviews on the forum. The price of both is under 50usd for one knife ;)

the BK7 is known for its allround use...what are you planning to use your replacement for, this might help answering you question better.

My advice -- send an e-mail or PM to Guyon. A great guy, but a serious Becker addict.

Sometimes I worry about him...:)

EDIT: OK, I see you can't do that. Well...I'll send one for you.

I'm going to second what Pietje010 said. Those are the most comparable knives right now in that price range.

Definitely the RANGER....RD6 or RD7..
Keep saving at a faster pace.....or these will pass you by also....
Watch out for sore toes......

I've posted this before, take a look at the Ontario Spec-Plus.
They're great knives, in your price range.
I highly recommend the SP19, a heavy piece of coated 1095 steel. Made in the USA.

But if you're looking for a more direct equivalent to the Becker BK7, then the Ranger knives already mentioned or the Ontario RAT are the way to go.

I have a Rat-7 and recommend it highly. I have a Ranger also, although it is only a 5/32" 4" blade. Rangers are very nice, and you can get a custom for a very decent price.
.
I'm trying to find a BK-7 myself. Anyone?

What some don't know is that the BK-7 actually came in at least three versions from Camillus.

There is the regular version in 0170-6C carbon steel and, of course, the fancier (and much more expensive) BK-77 in S-30V.

But there was also a BK-7SG serrated blade of which I have seen very few. It came with a large Spec-Ops sheath like the BK-77. I was told this version was sold on military bases, but I cannot confirm this report.
