I wanted to try out a couple of knives that were in the same price range.
I chose the Becker BK7 and the Ontario RD7 bush.
First off the BK7.
Alot of knife for the money.
This is not my favorite Becker knife, so I wanted to try it out, and compare it to other knives of similar size.
1095 Cro-Van Steel, '''Proudly made in the USA''' and ''12.75 inch overall length, 7.0 inch length blade, .188? inch thick blade'''
o KaBar era
oo Shape: clip point
oo Edge Angle: 20 degrees
oo Grind: flat
oo Steel: 0170-6
oo Rc hardness: 58-59
oo Blade length: 7 inches
oo Overall length: 12.75 inches
oo Blade thickness: 0.21 inches
oo Knife Weight: 13.6 ounces
oo Handle: Esta-Loc or Grivory-GV-6H
oo Sheath: Kydex
oo Origins: knife made in USA, sheath made in china
oo MSRP: US$116
This knife performed well at many tasks (chopping, batoning).
It was not the greatest slicer. This is where the RD7 outperformed the BK7.
Like all Becker knives the handles are outstanding.
Unlike the BK2 it feels really quick in the hand, but not as lite and agile as the BK5.
As soon as it was out of the wood it went back to true.
Next we have the RD7 BUSH.
Micarta scales included.
Knife Type: Fixed Blade
Series: Ranger
Blade Type: Clip Point
Blade Thickness: .187"
Tang: Full
Origin: USA
Total Length: 13.324"
Blade Length: 7"
Weight: 14.1 OZ
Handle Material: Black Canvas Micarta
Blade-Steel: Grey Powder Coated 5160 Carbon Steel
Rockwell Hardness: 57-58 rc
The RD7 bush did well.
Other than the handles, I really liked this knife.
It held an edge better than the BK7.
Really excelled at making shavings( great slicer).
Both knives performed well and I could get by with either one.
If I had to pick.
I sold both of them for a BK5 and a BK5.
Thanks.
Where is the MACHAX.
