This is just a few photos of a new toy! A gent on this forum answered my want ad with a great deal on a like-new BK7. It arrived today, and I'm pretty darn pleased!
Historically, I use a standard bushcraft trio (hatchet, 4" blade, SAK). But lately I've been considering a change, if only to try new things! But I've found some limitations of my normal setup that may merit improvement. I'm hoping the BK7 will meet those needs and simplify things.
This afternoon was hardly a full test (I've had this blade in my hands for less than two hours now), but it's been a good start! A distal 'three finger' grip allows for great little snap cuts on 1/2" wood, or decent chops into thicker wood. It's also still pretty nimble for carving (relatively speaking). It's definitely the most comfortable, versatile, and well though out ~7" fixed blade that I've ever used.
I stashed an SAK, some fatwood, and a LMF firesteel in the pocket, which makes for a pretty formidable arrangement.
I took a few pics, just for those who'd enjoy seeing a comparison to two other Beckers. (Not like folks haven't seen these before, haha). Shown are the BK7, '9, and '10.
Thanks for peeking! More pics when I get time for an overnight.
