I am looking for an all round good 9-10in camp knife.
I want it to chop well, baton very well and be capable of doing some smaller tasks such as notch making and fuzz sticks.

I have narrowed down my selection to the Ka-Bar produced Becker BK9 the Buck/ Hood Hoodlum or the Esee Junglas.
I am not too worried about price, and I will pay up to $170 for a good large camp knife.

I understand that the BK9 is the cheapest, but with micarta scales and a custom kydex sheath (which I will buy), the BK9 will cost more then the Junglas.
Please feel free to share your experiences with either of these blades, and is there any other large camp knives I should look at in this price range that will fulfill my needs.

Thanks in advance,:D

The junglas will out chop the bk9. Just because of how the blade is balanced forward. The bk9 is more of an all around since its balanced more evenly. I owned both and give the chopping edge to the junglas. But the whittling edge to the bk9. If you were to carry two knives, one for large chopping and batoning, the other for feathersticks and whittling I'd say junglas, but for one knife I'd say bk9.

I usually carry at least 2 other knives with me (I usually carry my bk2, and bk14 and I want a longer blade to even out my blade system)
I am not too worried about it being able to do small tasks, but I would like it to be able to do so.

While I only have experience with the Junglas out of those three, and would wholeheartedly recommend it without a second thought, I don't think you 'd regret the BK9. As you said, with Micarta handles and custom kydex sheath would make the BK9 cost more then the Junglas so it wouldn't be quite the bargain.

Dunno the Hoodlum but for the other two - are you a machete guy or a bowie guy? Junglas is a bad-ass end of the world machete-like knife and BK9 is a bad-ass end of the world bowie.

I like bowies.

Maybe add the Ka-Bar ZK War sword to the mix, after seeing this video it appears very close to the Hoodlum~

You just like chopping the heads off four or five fish at a time

I've owned all three.
They are all good.

The Buck Hoodlum is the fastest, most nimble of the three. It will snap cut better than the other two.

The Esse has the best sheath.

Go with your gut, you'll be happy.
