If you want a knife this large, get one. They are good knives, cost effective, and a value. They are very popular which would by default lead one to believe that they are good blades.
That's funny. I actually don't own one myself. I have a BK-7 which I seldom use. I just don't use large knives for much. I have my short Condor machetes for chopping when the need arises.
Plenty good for chopping
It's a handful but manageable if carried and used sensibly.
However, it's not entirely suited to individuals under 4 feet or anyone with myasthenia.
The average joe would compromise length and weight issues with, say the bk7,
Which will never be able to do stuff which the bk9 is especially suited for.
Overall, it's a dedicated chopper and unless you're like the incredible hulk
It would be a challenge to think that size would not matter.
