I had a thought here ... Is there any way to get the knife only? No handle or sheath just the steel? I know that Camillus used to have a few of them up on the bay but I'm not looking for NOS blades. I'm talking about current Kabar made blades.

I'm running Micarta & Leather on my BK2 and Micarta & Kydex on my BK14. (my Esee 3 & 4 spoiled me ... Now it had to be Micarta on every fixed blade user)

I am lining up to purchase the 7 & 9 soon but I'm not a fan of the stock sheath or handles. Any way to get just the blade like you can with Esee?

On a separate note, I'm eagerly awaiting the tweeners launch so I can get some custom Micarta on those little bundles of joy. (thinking about making my own tan and dark earth Micarta for these guys)

They pop up once in a while. Someone sold a bunch of BK9 and BK3 blanks on the bay last month.

i've seen Camillus blanks for sale. those are old stock, via auction, and other sources...

if KaBar blanks are being sold, i think they would like to know.

OP: if you want a blank, contact KaBar's 800 number directly, i imagine they would sell you one for MSRP though, or not at all.

ESEE sold blanks? i did not know that.

They were stamped Ka-Bar, for sure. Wonder if I can still pull them up...

okay, those ones look like they are factory ground, and coated, so they're not blank blanks...

the advert copy says "not sharpened", but they look like they might be...

best guess: someone bought a bunch of knives, kept the handles/hardware/sheaths and sold the stuffing as "blanks"

Were the prices of these "blanks" about what a complete knife would cost? Or were they substantially less?

I was referring to the knife connection Esee blades... I saw these a while ago but just looked these up again and saw that they won't allow purchases of the blade without the custom handles that they offer. Sorry guys, my mistake.

I should have worded my original post differently. I know that when I say blank, most would assume I was speaking of a unground, non-heat treated piece of steel which is not what I am referring to. I was referring to a sharpened, ground, heat treated blade without handle scales or a sheath. A finished blade sans extras for me to customize. I don't need the sheath or handle scales because I will have a customs made.

Sorry for the confusion.

^ Yep... That is what I was talking about. I just wish that Kabar sold them that way.
All it needed was an edge , scales, and sheath. I had the scales and sheath leftover from previous projects. A little time with my Lansky sharpener and I said it was done!
