oh! I se, so the BK9 is longer than the BK1! I heard you can't pry or do some amazing stuff with the BK9 as the thin part of the knive may break.

i have both the bk9 nd the brute, the brute is heavier in the hand, it chops well, the bk 9 chops well also and is lighter in the hand. i think you could do jus about anything you need to do in a survival situation with either knife, and would not worry if i had either one. if i had to choose i would choose the brute as it was one of the first large knives i bought and have used it more than my bk 9.
