Becker Brute or Patrol Machete?

Any thoughts on the partrol machete vs the brute as a large outdoor knife? Specifically, how does the patrol machete hold up to chopping on mid-size branches, maybe 3-5" diameter? Also, is the patrol machete too big for normal camp tasks? I've had my eye on the Brute for a while, but the more I look at the patrol machete, the more I like it. I would get them both, but I will only be able to afford one, and it will have to last a while as my primary large blade. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Josh

If it's going to be your primary blade for all tasks I would say the Brute. If you are going to be doing mostly chopping through woods and vegetation, I would go with the Patrol Machete. I have not had the oppurtunity to chop with a Patrol Machete, but I have used a Newt Livesay extensively. It is the RTAK model and is similar in proportions to the Brute. It performed great on the type of limbs you described, so I could only imagine how ferocious the Patrol Machete would cut them apart.

Yeah, the PM is too big for a camp knife. It chops like mad though, and any good folder can do the camp work that the PM is too long for. I think it is a great choice since you can rarely have "too much knife"!:D :D :D
