I know I know, I should've search. Yes I did but I didn't get as much info as I liked.
I've heard that the Magnum Camp isn't as good at chopping at the brute, but I've heard nothing about the brute at slicing.
I'm thinking which would be the best all around knife for camping between the Magnum and Brute (or other Becker lines).
I know a place that carry some of them and I don't mind picking them up when money comes in.
Thanks lots.

abusive tendancies? Go with the Brute. If you are looking for a general use blade, more cutting than chopping, then get the camp knife. I don't think the camp blade will let you down on occasional chopping chores but the Brute's thickness will definitly hinder slicing and cutting jobs. You could take the happy medium and get the 7inch combat utility model instead(did that make things easier or worst).

I'd think the latter.. but thanks for the input. I'll probably check out the store again and see what they carry.

You say you know of a store that carries the becker line could you please cheak the price of the brute and then let me know what it is and where i can get it if you dont mind.

It's some military surplus store in BC.
Looks authentic. They also carries various other camillus anyways.

i think the brute is more a replacement for a hatchet, it is very sharp, but if you need to slice something just use your sak. the brute is a monster at chopping and making shelters, making traps, and in general making a home in the woods. as far as slicing- if you want to slice you need a thin blade that would be damaged by some of the things that i have put my brute through. i dont think you want to baton your slim bladed slicer through oak and maple logs for dry firewood. so you need a smaller slicer to make the more delicate cuts needed, as in making a figure four trap. i have done it with the brute but it is much faster with the sak fireman i usually carry.

The Magnum Camp just might win in the "most under-estimated knife" category on this forum. It is, IMO, the most versatile of all the BK&T knives with the very best grind. (Even then, I've convexed and thinned its edge out a little, as others have suggested.) It will easily lop through 1"/2.5cm branches and split larger logs for firewood. For hardier chopping chores, the Magnum Camp would be a little less effective than a Brute; but the Brute would already be a serious compromise for those chores, as well, compared to a decent saw or ax (or even a hatchet).

Go with what you think will work best for you, but don't sell the M.Camp short in making your decision. Well-conceived classic design with excellent weight, balance, and grind, IMO.

Another vote for the Magnum Camp for an all-around camp knife. Hey, its a colloborative design between BK&T/Camillus and Jerry Fisk--who knows a thing or two about making knives!

Like storyville says, it may well be one of the most underestimated knives around, but it is definitely one of the best "Value" knives around.

I just went to the store today, It's missing both the brute and magnum camp because It's out of stock.
It has the Campanion though.
I don't think they would order it in time.
I'll keep an eye and probably would get it next time around if they have it in stock.
I'll be getting a kershaw hatchet anyways. (That's something taht I could get my hands on soon enough without the wait)
Oh, brooksknives, The place is called Dave's surplus ltd. at 742 12th st., New Westminster, BC, V3M 4W5.
He seems to carry everything but the patrol machete.
Does $150CDN total sound good for the Campanion?

brooksknives: well hey, it's a trade off. I got to get it immediately for the camping trip if I wanted to.

Oh I probably would. Got my axe. I didn't bother to get any of the becker yet because i'll probably get it on the next time I go camping.
