Becker C/U-7 Owners

Be careful when you read Cliff's review. He starts off by saying that the knife is not designed for chopping. Then, he ranks it, along with a bunch of more expensive knives, solely based on chopping ability. In his review, it beat CS in handle, coating, edge, steel, sheath, comfort ... but  he says CS is better.

BTW, after a few people got on him he did come out and admit that the CU7 DOMINATES on outright cutting ability beating Reeves, Busse, Mission, Fallkniven, Strider, SOG, TOPS, CS.

Cliff seems to have a tough time giving the Becker line its props. Maybe if Will payed him ... Use his observations. Separate out his biases and rankings. That should leave you with some good information.;)

The CU7 is a great knife; it's one of my favorite fixed blades. IT is a great buy too. You get a nicely designed fixed blade, great steel, and a top quality Eagle-style sheath all for $69.95. I highly recommend it to someone looking for a working grade medium fixed blade.

Couple of quick points:

- Bayou LaFourche has the BK&T C/U-7 for $47.99 which is about as cheap as I've found them online, although I recall hearing that somewhere else has them even cheaper by a coupla bucks. However, BLF's customer service is reputedly among the best. http://www.knifeworks.com/product.asp?0=395&1=396&3=1630

- Here's a review I did of the C/U-7 (aka BK7 sometimes) along with some other knives from Busse, Cold Steel, Fallkniven, and other makers.

I think the C/U-7 is THE midsize bargain of the year!! While a factory second of the CS SRK blade would give it a run in performance/value ratio, the comfortable handle on the C/U-7 puts it head and shoulders above the CS blade IMHO. I agree with the others who advocate that you go ahead and get one of the C/U-7 blades. At less than $50 it brings lots of bang for the buck to the table (or to the woods, campsite, hunting lodge, kitchen, where-ever you will use it). :D

Mate, do a search on the C/U 7 and you will find Ethan Beckers comments about
both the C/U 7 & the magnum camp. a really good read.

MR,
Here is a clean pic to help you with your decision....thanks for the interest!

This knife is one of the best knives for the dollar ever. It should get a "Best Buy" award this year. Plus, it is backed up by some excellant customer service. I have one and like it a lot.

Excellant bang fo rthe buck. A great knife for the price and a great company behind it. I have knives costing six, seven, eight times as much and find myself grabbing the C/U 7 often. Get it, you will not be sorry.
