I went to a gunshow over the weekend and saw a Becker c/u 7 for $60. I was very tempted, but decided to save my $$$ till I could get some feedback from you folks. I had never seen one before and hadn't read much about it, so I was a little leary. I already have several knives, the biggest being a standard K-bar. Just seems like the Becker would be a great field knife to take on hikes for heavy cutting and chopping duties (I carry a sak for lighter stuff!) Anyway, what do you guys think, was $60 a fair price? Should I be kicking myself for not buying it? (I actually am regretting that decision a little bit!) Tell me your thoughts on this knife...who knows, you may even talk me into ordering one off the net. Thanks!

Great knife! I bought mine from Bayou La Forge on the net for $50. The CU/7 is a great cutter but, a little light for heavy chopping, in my opinion. Because the handle slabs are a bit slippery, I wrapped mine with gauze grip tape I found in the tennis section at Academy. This tape provides a slightly tacky grip.

Good luck.

It's a good knife and you won't regret buying it. You can get it at 1SKS for something between $50-$60 and support Bladeforums as well.

$50 bucks is closer to average price for the C/U 7. It's an amazing deal and I love mine. Here are a couple of threads that talk about it. Check out the Camillus forum, they're always talking about it in there.

You can run a search to find much, much more on it. Hope that helps. There's also a link in one of those threads for Bill Siegle's custom handle scales in G10 which would make the knife much grippier than the stock scales.
