Just picked this up fairly cheap and was hoping for some good ideas on how to make it look purdy again without spending too much $. I’m not sure what the previous owner did to cause this but it looks to be in otherwise unused condition.

Your suggestions are appreciated!

If that's the coating thats missing then I would just strip it with a chemical or sand the whole coating off - because if you plan on using that knife for much of anything the coating is gonna start coming off anyways. If it looks rough after that then just keeping sanding till you get up to 800 or 1000 grit, it'll probably look just fine. If you go to the becker sub forum you'll see all sorts of nice looking BK 2's.

Here is mine with the coating stripped, a patina that's developed, and my first attempt at convexing using a 800/4000 waterstone.

Strip it, sand it up through 600 or so, then scotch-brite it, wipe it down with oil and put the scales back on. Beautiful matte finish, and a lot more efficient in cutting than with a coating.
