Becker Campanion Thickness?

I know it's thicker than 3/16" - but don't know exactly. It's very Busse like - overbuilt with a fat edge. Should hold up to anything.
I'm looking forward to the release of the BK12 - a similar slightly longer drop point but with geometry like the crewman.

I just sold mine but when I still had it the same question was posed...

My answer:

"7/32 along the spine or .21875 inch. So, mine is 1/32" shy of 1/4 of an inch. "

Was it too thick to be a decent slicer? I don't plan on doing much chopping with it, so I am more interested in how well it cuts.

That has more to do with the edge thickness and angle for a lot of materials. The spine thickness will only come into play on thick binding materials like 1/4" cardboard and turnips. If you like the general size and shape of a companion you can turn it into a fairly decent cutter by adding a decent relief grind to the edge. Boye's drop point hunters were of similar stock and cut very well on a lot of materials.

Yep...I had a Campanion and sold it faster than I could spit! It is great for chopping like a meat cleaver but, the cutting was way down due to the thick bade profile. A light hatchet would be better. JMO
