I received a Becker Combay Utility 7 knife and sheath yesterday and I have a question about the sheath.

On the back of the sheath, at the back of the belt loop, is a piece of webbing fabric that's open at the top and bottom and is sewn in on the left and right sides and, here's what I don't understand, sewn down the center. This creates two vertical slots. What are they for?

I could be wrong, but I think it's so clips can be used to mount the sheath to mil spec gear.

longbow50 is right they are called A.L.I.C.E. clips
It's kind of like a mil. version of a split-ring for gear.
It's a long thin "ring" that snaps open and closed,
You put it throught your gear then over your belt,
So you can take the gear on and off and fix it to one
place on your belt.:) (I think:D )
