becker crewman in action

Lets see those bk 10 in action against the Ontario Ranger line of knives.Pics. and comments welcome. Thanks in advance.

sounds like a good shootout. Any Ranger in specific? if it's against the 10, I guess the closest specs would be with the Bush line. Full Ranger would have to against the 2 as they are 1/4" thick.

I don't mind the idea, but three threads about it is a bit... excessive. One will do.

Other than that, looking forward to the pics.

yeah, noticed that too, weird. As a matter of fact, today I tossed my 10 and a Ranger Rak in my backpack. They even out at 3/16" thick, the RAK having a longer blade ( 6-3/4" vs 5.5" for the 10) but a big choil on the RAK means that it only has a slightly longer - 1/4" - edge. The 16 did a photobomb.

I might go out in a bit and find something to wreck, but I'm guessing they would take anything I throw at them. Short of putting them on a vise and pound them with a hammer to see how many blows would it take for them to bend or break, I'm pretty sure performance would be very similar. One is 5160, the other is 1095 CV, both made in USA, good knives both in my opinion although made with different uses in mind. If I had to cut off the rope binding my hands and then de-animate the sentries that bound me, I would go for the RAK. For real stuff, I would stick to my 10 :D I'm really tempted to go out and see how good of a thrower the RAK is.

I haven't handled many of the Ontarios, but the ones I have handled the grinds didn't go as high as on the Beckers, meaning a Becker will cut better. Just physics there, but from what we have seen here numerous times with modification the Ontario knives are perfectly serviceable. With Toooj over there, maybe their knives will see improvement and be more competitive with other brands out now.

Tooj moved to Ontario knives? interesting! recently been seeing the SP5 frecuently on the bay, seems like it came back from retirement. And you are absolutely right, the grind on the RAK is lower than the grind on the 10, but my NS7 has a full flat grind.
