I've touched on it a few times but I tier my edc, if you want I can elaborate but since it's non Becker related I'll keep it to I keep what I consider minimal on me and each level of the edc builds and adds redundancy and everything beyond on person is balanced between urban and country/woods needs. My on person changes if I have to be in nyc but the bags stay consistent. So I always have a Becker with me or not far away.

I recently got the Nitro All Hazards because I had to start carrying a laptop again and the Rush 6 no longer worked for nyc / work travel so it now resides in the truck. I keep the BK14 in the Nitro's middle compartment under the tear away med/bath kit, I keep a BK11 in the concealed compartment on the Rush 6 and BK11 edc kit well

Can't talk about knives without showing some ;)
The maxpedition micro is my goto if I don't want to bring one of the bags and especially if I don't have the BK11 kit on me, it moves between the bags including my tank and tail bags on my bikes and pockets in my cargo pants and shorts.

Thanks for checking out it

Wow! You're way better equipped than I am. I used to be a we bit better but after 15 years of hiking 2 or 3 times a week weeded out the stuff I never used. What's the shelf-life on a snake-bike kit for snakes I've never seen on my hikes for example? I have a light-weight military style (may be military for all I know) that holds up pretty well. I carry a little Walther 22 on my left hip. On my right is a lightweight Olympus Camera (the EPM2). Ahead of that is whatever knife I'm carrying on that hike. Last time was the BK10.

But you said "EDC." Around the house I carry one of my fixed-bladed knifes usually in the range of 5 to 7 inches. I'm carrying the BK12 at the moment. I don't really care for folders all that much but have a RAT-1 that I take when I go out in public which since I'm retired I do as little as possible. Also I carry a small Victorinox in my watch pocket.

That's a lot of stuff to carry every day...but at least it's well organized. My stuff's all haphazard. Like my life, I guess. I know what you mean about NYC, tho....I've been going to Boston a lot lately and always in the back of my mind is whether the blade in my pocket is illegal or not....
Nice thing about NH is there are virtually NO carry restrictions. But I'd still feel odd in public with Machax on my person.......

yea they don't change much for hikes or work, hikes I might add more water or and I hate to admit it, I've really been digging the Bear Grylls canteen/nesting cup carries nice on the hip and stays out of the way of either of the bags.

I live off the AT and commute 60 miles to nyc, my environments change drastically throughout the day 4 days a week :D

Old boy scout habits die hard I guess, having that kind of stuff on me has saved my butt for stuff like 9/11, the 2003 blackout, hurricanes Irene and Sandy, they made it suck much less. Not to mention all the daily nuances it deals with.

They are heavy but there is very little I don't use at least once a week in my kits except the medkits(thank goodness), compasses, flashlights (as I always have one on person) and knives (as I usually have one on person)

The city laws are different than by me 4" max and you have to justify intent. I just say I use the bags for hiking and camping and must've left them in there by mistake and with everything else in the bags I'm never questioned.

Those bags are my lifeline when I'm away from home, I go to yoga when I'm in the city and shower before work all my shower stuff is in there too. Those bags do a lot.

I miss nh I haven't been there in a few years

Nice setup you have there. I have only a 14 right now and looking at 11 and 24 or another 14.

I'm currently working on something like this but have yet to find a bigger pouch for it. using something from the maxpedition currently

Do check out the following thread and perhaps you would like to share the kit you have created there too cos i believed that many people did that with their 11, 14 and 24. 16 is kinda bigger but possible too.

Come on up! You aren't that far away....hell, take a couple weeks off and hike up on the AT ;).

I've ridden to the top of Mt Washington a bunch of times on various bikes in some pretty wild weather, I'm a pretty good hiker but not sure I could handle that climb but I do want to give it a shot one day and I'll be praying for good weather :D

Is your pic of what was the man in the mountain?

Yeah. Before his face fell off the mountain. The Old Man was a friend of mine.....I had driven through Franconia Notch just a week before he came tumbling down. Kinda funny that our state quarter has something that represents our state that no longer exists.

Re: Mt. Washington, make sure you get in touch with me if you want to go. It's not that difficult of a hike, depending on the weather....which if bad can make it deadly. Been up there a few times; in my younger days even packed into Tuckerman's and did some skiing. That'd be a suicide mission now, LOL. If you've managed to ride a bicycle (if that's what you meant by "bike") to the top of Mt. Washington you are more than capable of getting there on foot. Not to hijack your thread, but here's a pic from the 80's taken on the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail (late October/early November, IIRC):

That's me on the right.

BTW I'm impressed with your EDC....I carry a LOT of stuff that NEVER gets used. Tho I was never a Boy Scout, I still believe in being (somewhat) prepared.

Here's a break out of my non nyc / non laptop carry that rides in my truck mostly bag :D

It's a 5.11 Moab Rush 6 with two attachments, a 5.11 4wx6H bag and a condor water bottle holder
DSC03553_zpsdfc937ce.jpg

The water bottle holder has the 2 compartments the main and the side pouch
In the main pouch I keep a 40oz nalgene and gsi ss nesting cup

In the side pouch I keep an esbit folding stove with 4 fuel tabs inside it, the large crkt eatn tool, 2 extra fuel tabs and a 4 serving fruit & nut trailmix

The BK11 in the concealed compartment, the wrap I did extends off the handle into a noose type wrap that cinches to your wrist, I have a foot of jute twine, half a straw stuffed with cotton / Vaseline and an inova slim light under the ranger bands

Mesh pouch has meds like allergy, asprin and aleve, cold meds, immodium, cut kit, tweezers and a broken comb, the lower unseen pouch has the water purification tablets and sewing kit

Now that it doesn't go in the city anymore, lives in the truck and goes on day hikes I clipped the mora bushcraft survival knife in between the bags
DSC03571_zpsf9cc087c.jpg

The back of the bag is the sunglasses pouch, the small water bladder/tablet pouch and the tiny pouch on the sling, all of which are currently empty

Cool, thanks for the breakdown, MI. Gave me some good ideas for my daypack.

Question: have you used your esbit, or is it just for emergencies? Been trying cram an alcohol stove in mine, for a cup of tea/coffee/hot chocolate on the trail, but I'm worried it'll get crushed. Haven't tried solid fuel systems before, might be a good lightweight option. Thoughts?

yes I've used it, those are the black marks on it :D

One fuel cube is good enough to boil water in my glacier cup or canteen nesting cup. So 2 cubes you could make tea or coffee or another hot beverage, while enjoying said beverage you could be boiling water for soup, oatmeal or otherwise. I've even used it on park benches. I've tried using tent pegs to make hot dogs but that didn't go so well so I just use it for boiling unless I can find something to act as a mini griddle

Awesomesauce, my glacier cup would be exactly what I'd be using. Sounds like a trip to the store is on order soon. Thanks for the reply!
