So, now that everyone has gotten their hands on the Tweeners, if I were to buy a one for my birthday coming up in a few weeks, which one should I get to EDC and why? I currently EDC my BK-14.

i prefer the 17, but i like a clip point for some every day kinda chores

16 seems to be the most popular...I love mine, I also just got a 15 in the mail the other day, but have not done anything with it....looks nice as hell though, I plan on using it tonight to help out with grill prep....

For EDC, I'd go with the 17. Well, for me, the tweeners to too much for EDC, but I do carry the 15 on my pack that I leave in the car.

IMHO....
17 looks the best; 15 seems to feel more natural in my hand -- and is the most practical being a field knife and food prep knife; other than the FFG, I see no reason why the 16 is as popular as it is.

EDC I think you're good with the 14!

While the 17 is maybe the sexiest with that clip...and the 15 just looks bada**
...the 16 is kinda nice too.

Hmm. I hadn't really considered getting the 15. That is to say it was at the bottom of my list with the 16 on top. However, most of what I do with my knife is preparing food...with cutting cardboard and trimming my cuticles following in at 2nd and third. I do some occasional beating on my knife, but not too much. Just enough to keep it in line. I'm considering the 15 now. What do you think it does better than the 16? The 14 is what won me over to a FFG and a drop point.

Clich! Drop in here! We have a hot prospect and don't want to lose him!!! :D

Food prep? 15 without question. Just think: large steak knife. Sometimes you just need that point that only a trailing point can give you.

Cuticles? Throw away that 16. You need something pointy like the 15 or 17 for cleaning under your nails...

15 is the longest of the three, and the only one whose length is truly correct for the sheaths!

You want FFG? Well, except for the last .215 (at the widest spot) at the spine, the rest of the blade on a 15 is a FG. It isn't a saber grind by the grossest stretch of the description.
That will do for now. I'm sure Clich will drop in and give you more reasons.

Recommendation threads are the best. The result is the OP recreating a scene from "Scanners"......

Thanks for all the recommendations guys. If I can swing one any time soon, I think you've just won me over to the 15. One more question about it. What applications would it not be good for?

Applications that it would be good for:
everything not listed below

Applications it may NOT be good for:
any trimming of the "personal" hedges
pulling railroad ties from timber
jack stand for tire maintenance
that's about it...

Yeah, I'd rather not chop a tree with a BK15, or any other tweener, for that matter. I wouldn't use it for prying or anything like that. I have used it for food prep and bushcraft practice and it has done both very well. It (and the 17 I suspect would do just as well) can bore a nice starter spot for a bowdrill hearth. Notching branches for traps and making fuzzsticks is right up it's alley, too.
