Becker for the car?

I'm considering picking up a Becker for the sole purpose of it being my vehicle emergency knife - either as a part of a BoB or inside a tote in the trunk. Am I making a good choice? I've had a Camillus Bk7 once that I gave to a Marine on his way to Iraq - it was a good knife. One of the BF dealer sponsors offers them at a good price - below $80 for either a Bk7 or Bk9 - which model would you suggest? Of course, the value aspect plays a big role here as... who knows - I don't want an expensive knife in my trunk just in case the car ever gets stolen or broken into.

I already have a Fiskars 14" hatchet and Cold Steel Bushman knife in it.

Thanks much for any feedback!

I've been considering the BK3 for my car knife/tool. Seems more practical for road situations and urban environments.

Hm... tough decision. I'd say that in a vehicle the weight and size of the 9 aren't an issue, so I think you should probably go with the BK9. Half knife, half machete, it's really a tool that's capable of doing damage. Best thing would probably be to get them both :D

You already have a decent knife in the Bushman. Durable but cheap. I got the mini version. I have a JAB Piggyback and a KaBar Warthog in my Jeep, but if I was to go Becker the BK3 would be it.

I keep an original Blackjack Campanion in the car for emergency use -- cutting open Buicks, prying doors, field dressing moose, shaving kindling (used to live in the Yukon). Good idea to always have a stout, sharp blade handy.

. . . . I wondered where you were . . . . :)
Moose, this was the most entertaining video I have watched in awhile. Thanks for posting it & taking the time to do it. Pass along our thanks to the "fire guys" as well for their time for what they do.
Be safe.

I disagree with the masses:eek:.. go figure..............

you have the chopping and survival tool covered (bushman).. and I'll assume those aren't within arms reach right?? with that said, how about a BK2 in the glovebox:thumbup:, within arms reach to break a window, cut a seat-belt, or pry yourself out of an accident (God forbid you find yourself in one)

I've been meaning to drop mine in there for weeks now, thanks for the thread I'm heading out right now to put in glove-box..........:)

I keep a BK7 in the trunk and a BK11 in the console between the two front seats. Not much you can't do with that duo.

I'd say with the tools you already have, I'd add a BK11 and you'll be set.

2 rides under the seat always. Useful for vehicle evac and bush work if I'm not carrying others. If only bush it's the 7 for me .

Looks like you just need a small blade, so I +1 the 11 or 14. If you were starting fresh, I'd say 3. I personally have a 2 under the seat of the back seat, and a 14 under the seat of the passenger side.

Off topic, but you're the second kabayan around here that I've encountered that went from tropics to freezing winters :P

I have a BK3, BK11CSM/BK11 (they rotate) and a Cold Steel Shovel in my car. It's a Honda Element.

I also have been keeping my Falcon II in the car, and with it my Husqvarna hatchet and SAK.

Those, along with whatever folder I'm EDC'ing that day, which has lately been a Case Canoe, stockman or BM Griptilian, and my new Juice S2 makes me feel pretty well covered on the "sharp things" front.

A crowbar would be a good addition though.

My BK9 rides in the truck with me. It stays stuck down between the passenger seat and center console.

You guys live is some wonderful States. On the other hand I live in California where the criminal charge for carrying a knife in the car is more serious than for carrying a gun in the car. Of course here it is legal to carry a gun in the passenger compartment provided a) it is unloaded and b) it is in the open.

BK 2 rides in the truck console. Model 19 in my door pocket and momma's on the Mossberg. Around here, that's considered "unarmed".

You can tell a Kentucky boy's married if he's got tobacco streaks down both sides of the truck.
