Becker homemade handle scales

Hey guys, I plan on making my own BK2 handle scales pretty soon. I think i'll be using a bout 50yr old walnut. On a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is it to make scales for this particular becker. Also, does any body have any tips, ideas or advice for making them? Any advice is welcome.

Once the finish has really started coming off and my becker has bald spots i'm going to just go ahead and take the rest of the finish. Does any body have any advice for that either.

I don't have help for the scales, but I do for stripping the finish. I just did mine today. I got some Klean Stripper in an aerosol can.

Spray it on, let it sit for 10 minutes and scrape the paint right off. It took 90% of the finish off one side on the first try. This was the easiest stuff that I have worked with.
