Hey,
After the fall gathering in 2012, I stole Uncle E's idea regarding duct tape wrapped around a credit card. I've now taken that all over the world. Most recently it went to Guyana and helped me with my blisters and broken foot. I got a lot of good ideas out of that gathering. My primary flashlight for this expedition was a streamlight microstream, which I also learned about on the gathering. If I am remembering right Derek taught me about that light. The batteries on my LD-20 went out. The microstream was enough.

Was that a Hest folder you were using? It looked at first like a cryo almost. Love the videos, glad you made it back safe. Got more stories/videos post them up!

Yeah it was a HEST 2.0 left handed. I was brought a fixed blade that I made down, but they loaded my pack up to 50 pounds when I got there so I decided to only take bare essentials and a folder is just fine. The group had two communal machetes so with a good stout folder and occasional use of a machete I had no need for fixed blade and it saved 8 ounces. I could have saved another few ounces by ditching the LD-20 but I elected to carry it out of the jungle. It has a finicky on/off switch now. Streamlight worked just fine because it isn't like you're doing a whole lot after the sun goes down. I love the LD-20 but the little microstream is just so good and light I'm probably gonna switch over to it for these types of adventures. The one thing I REALLY like about the LD-20 is the head band and red light cap you can slip on and off. I wish there was a red cap for the Streamlight Microstream. Then it would be perfect. You can clip it to the bill of your hat and ditch the headband.

Thanks for the video. I bet Micky was a lot of fun to hike with. He would make a fine Beckerhead.
