Recently traded for my very first Becker, the bk10, and boy am I impressed! I've taken it out a few times, cut some stuff down, scraped some other stuff and some little things here and there.

One thing I noticed that I'm really not digging is the Jimping though, it seems a little to aggressive to me, I may be the only one who thinks this but I couldn't help but notice.

Many grind the thumb ramp off. Personally, I like it.

Funny that your the first one who replied, I was just about to pm you about removing it.

I might just start wearing gloves more often so I don't have to get rid of it.

Just do it yourself if you want it off. Just tale it slowly. There's been a few people here that used a hand file to remove it.

take a small round rat tail file and file the jimping, should dull down the aggressiveness. unless it is the deepness that feels too much than i guess all you could do would be grind the ramp down its self.

I don't mind the ramp and jimping much but I think I'm going to take the ramp off my 10 and 7. You could try softening it with a file or perhaps you could fill it in with JB weld or something.

Need becker pics here....one with, one without...

Yeah dont know why you would want to remove the thunbramp or jimping. I love it. I'm going to put jimping on my BK2 I'm pretty sure when I get a chance. Bk9 with it is perfect. If you do want it gone just file it off. Will take like 20 mins.

i like the ramp and jimping but then i like my bk2 as well and it has niether!! i'm easy too get along with you see.:p

Hey Monkeyz .......

I had a helluva time getting to where I got on the jimping........Most of the jimping I was familiar with was shallow and had very sharp ridges........... They ate the crap out of my ungloved hand........I am in fact somewhat conflicted about thumbramps to begin with and was talked into them by my good friend Will Fennell who was at that time in charge of new products at Cammillus........He thought it was a marketing plus, I could See no harm in performance and I then became interested in designing the most comfy of jimps......... Wet, bare hands and traditional jumps do not get along well in my experience ...... The large rounded at the top humps worked best in my hand..... I like knives with them and, those without...... I really like the Seven without the ramp aesthetically and think it fine with....... The ten I like the ramp and the nine as well..... Cannot tell you why ...... Balance will be as close as dammit....... When being serious with a knife, I would hope to have a good pair of deer skin or preferably, Elk gloves on but, some kind of leather........

Hope this helps....

E
