Becker/Ka-bar

What is the relationship between Becker and Ka-bar. Are they one and the same company or are they two seperate entities under one parent company. I love my 1217 but it looks like most of the Beckers are alot more robust than the Ka-bar knives are. Can someone explain this?

ka-bar is to becker kinda like what rowen is to esee...basically ethan designs the knives and ka-bar makes it into reality. ka-bar makes some of the knives for johnson (johnson adventure blades), and bob dozier as well. i saw dozier at a knife show here a couple of weeks ago and he has his own operation - not a hint of ka-bar brand/logo/marketing on his table.
 
and kabar has their own stuff...

and cutco is involved too ;)
 
Make no mistake, both Becker and Kabar knives are tough. They just are made for different uses. Both great products imho.
