So, I am looking to get a set of these, that is for sure. BUT, I would like a matching set a steak knives. That utility knife in the set looks like it might fair out well for that.

It is possible to purchase this without getting the whole set? Or, are there more kitchen knives on the way?

Plus, what are your guys' experiences with edge retention?

I've had these for a while now. Absolutely frickin' love them! I will say the utility blade does make a nice knife for steak, however personally I use a set of 14s as my steak knife set.

I haven't touched mine up at all, I've used them HARD even taking them into the restaurant to use for a couple weeks. They are not shaving sharp but they are still sharp.

Oh, by the by, I've gotten 2 sets from Ethan, and I've purchased 4 more from Dale at T-K-C. He has SUPER fast shipping.

I have no experience with them but I do want a set real bad. It seems to be a well rounded kit and with Ethans name on it, it's got to be a sure bet.

I was curious about these too. They are made overseas and even though they are part of Esee's lineup they are not covered with their crazy awesome warranty as far as I am aware. If I am wrong please let me know because I had wanted a set myself until I read those facts.

Tell you what, if you get a set, and through normal kitchen knife use they break. I'll give you the money back for them. Obviously if you go baton them through a tree or some other jackassery they will break, but if you break them while using them as they are intended, I'll give you the money for them. How about that?

Yes they are made overseas but that doesn't affect their quality at all. I've had a set since Christmas and I love them. And they do have ESEE's no questions asked warranty.

The ESEE / Becker line of cooking knives are manufactured in Taiwan to Becker / ESEE specs. They carry the same no-questions-asked warranty as our regular line of USA made outdoor knives. If you break it, we replace it - no questions asked!

Thanks for the info. I wanted to get these for the wife, so, I guess I will, but a BK14 as a steak knife may not be for the wife :).

Otherwise all looks sweet.

Wow guys... it has been a few months (maximum 3) since I read up on these but that link says the exact damn opposite of what I thought I read before... the messed up part is I would have sworn I read it right on the esee website... I must have confused them with the lite machete. Eating my words...

Chameleonbear,
Through regular use, I have burned through quite a large number of kitchen knifes in the last ten years alone. I would have been proud to own the set even without the warranty, whether esee's or your's, because of Ethan's design alone. I just keep wanting a bk 9, 5, 16, 12, 17, 10 more.

It's printed on the back of the box, too. :)
they're pretty nice, the handles are comfy for me AND SWMBO, who has tiny little fine boned hands.
